Want to visit the Church of the Good Shepherd?

Walking into a church service for the first time can make anyone anxious. Here are some questions that most people want answered before they show up:

  • Where are you? Our address is 1650 Clay Avenue, Tyrone, PA 16686. We are adjacent to the Tyrone Area Football Stadium.
  • How do the people dress? Most Sundays, the pastor wears business casual. Some of our more traditional parishioners wear suits, while others wear blue jeans or shorts. Wear what makes you feel comfortable.
  • When do I stand up or sit down? Worship leaders will direct you when to stand or sit. The information is also printed in our bulletin.
  • What if I don't know the hymns? All of the verses to our hymns are projected on screens during worship. If you are not familiar with the hymn, you don't have to sing.
  • How long will the pastor talk? The average sermon lasts about 20 to 25 minutes.
  • What if I sit in someone's seat? The pastor promises that he will personally escort out of the sanctuary anyone who claims you are in their seat.
  • Are the facilities fully handicap-accessible? Yes. There are no stairs used to enter our building, restrooms, or sanctuary. We have an elevator to the basement so everyone can join in our Adult Sunday School.

Here at the Church of the Good Shepherd (affectionately known as COGS), you will find a wonderful group of friendly Christians who gather together to worship their Lord. All of our services are Biblically-based with the goal of bringing honor and glory to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
